Proceedings of an international conference

The scientific proceeding is the output of an international scientific conference held on April 21, 2021, in Dublin, Ireland. The aim of the conference was to examine and present the current trends of society, but also the challenges that lie ahead and it is necessary to meet them. The scientific proceeding contains 11 papers, dealing with the field of social work, social development, education, and management. The scientific committee of the conference was composed of experts from five countries (Ireland, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovak republic).

The introductory speech was given by the President of the International Scientific Board of Catholic Researchers and Teachers in Ireland, SM. Anne Mary McNamara, Ph.D. Her speech was followed by the Rector of the Priestly Seminary and the moderator of the Theological Institute doc. ThDr. Peter Majda, Ph.D. Subsequently, the participants were welcomed by the Rector of the Wysza Szkola Spoleczno-Ekonomicna in Gdansk, Dr. Roman Gawrych, and doc. ThDr. Joachim Nowak, Ph.D.

Submited lectures at this international conference were given by Professor Karel Lacina from the Czech Republic, Professor Králik from Slovak republic, Professor Mietlewski from Poland, Associate Professor Králiková, Associate Professor Matulčíková, Associate Professor Bursová, Associate Professor Hamranová, Associate Professor Hriviková, Associate Professor Hricišáková from Slovak republic, Dr. Szelągowska-Rudzka Dr. Janus, from Poland, Dr. Šrobárová, Dr. Kozáková, Dr. Masaríková from Slovac republic, Dr. Bočková,  Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Oláh from Czech republic.

Karel Lacina, in his contribution focuses on regional policy. Regional policy is one of the so-called EU Community policies implemented within the European administrative area. It is one of the concepts that make it possible to reduce the differences between the regions on the national level as well as in the European Union in the long-run.  Great emphasis is placed on the implementation of regional policy principles, especially in rural areas.

In their contribution, Marta Matulčíková, Anna Hamranová, Tatiana Hrivíková deal with dynamic changes in the economy, the new arrival of rapid qualitative changes, the development of information technologies, as well as financial, economic, and technological turbulence still affecting these changes.

Katarzyna Szelągowska-Rudzka deals with the mechanism in the context of theoretical considerations concerning the factors of organizational success and innovation.

Anna Janus, Janka Bursová, draw attention to the fact that changes in the administrative, economic and political nature do not only require a change in the management paradigm in the field of social assistance but emphasize the essence of interest in its axiological dimension. They argue that the introduction of modern management tools should be linked to the promotion of ethics based on deontological reasoning. They recalls that respect for human dignity, which is essential for social work, leaves a great deal of individual freedom, but always in the context of the norms professed by members of the community and how to put those norms into practice.

In his contribution, Karel Lacina focuses primarily on effective networking, negotiations with partners from political parties and movements, as well as with representatives of business entities working on various associations and projects. Thorough knowledge of basic managerial skills is generally considered to be one of the main prerequisites for success.

Soňa Šrobárová, Kozáková Anna solve crises situations in the article Crisis intervention helps the client to accept reality and learn to live with it. Its job is not to make the situation easier, but to help individuals todeal with it.

Kateřina Bočková, Mike Thomas Schmit, Albert Oláh, focus on “Innovation Management and Barriers” e.g. creating space for innovation and organizational changes in Slovak Republic. The main purpose of this paper is to identify opportunities and challenges for successful innovation management.

Soňa Šrobárová, Anna Masariková deal with social exclusion, crisis intervention, as a method of working with people in an unfavorable and crisis situation.

Zygmunt Mietlewski states how to recover the lost historical data, both in electronic or paper form of the economic activities of the company, which wos lost ors hredded. How is it possible to gain access to economic information without which a company cannot continue its economic activity? The article invites the reader to become acquainted with the mathematical concept of managing things that many thought could not be controlled – chaos in business caused by the loss of historical and current data.

Daniela Hricišáková talks about the qualitative results related to the project solution.

Jozef Králik and Kristína Králiková explain that at its inception, the European Union set itself the goal of classifying it among the economically dominant, most developed regions of the world. They also write about deviating from natural and historically verified values.

The results of the research in particular areas from individual countries were summarized by the President of the International Scientific Board of Catholic Researchers and Teachers in Ireland, and scientific studies published in the proceeding after the international conference cover a wide range of social issues and social development from the perspective of several European Union countries.
