A social worker is a helping profession that applies to various fields of social work. His roles evolve from specific situations in which they use their professional competencies.
The motive for writing a scientific monograph was the fact that the number of parents who come to social workers for help in a difficult situation when there are problems in families is growing. Often parents do not manage the upbringing of children and the only help is the adoption of educational measures by social workers. There are also often problems between parents, and social workers assist in actions related to the process of adjusting the rights and obligations of a minor child.
The main goal of the monograph is to identify selected interventions of employees of the social and legal protection authority of children and social guardianship of labour, social affairs, and family offices for the period 2004 – 2019.
The scientific monograph Intervention of a social worker of a social and legal protection authority of children and social guardianship is the result of the author’s systematic scientific work in the issue of social legal protection of children and social guardianship. It brings knowledge that was preceded by several scientific research and surveys, the result of which the author gives a new perspective on the researched issues.

The study (monograph) addresses the issue of social work with the family in the implementation of measures of the social and legal protection authority of children and social guardianship (hereinafter “SPODaSK”) with priority given to employees of the Labor, Social Affairs, and Family Office (hereinafter “ÚPSVR”) of SPODaSK department. It points to the legislative definition of SPODaSK measures, to the most frequently applied methods of working with the family, to the rehabilitation of the family environment, which leads to support for the preservation or restoration of family functions, as well as to the adjustment or renewal of family conditions.
To create an objective picture, we present the results of quantitative research, which was focused on selected areas of intervention of employees of the body of social protection of children and social guardianship. We analyzed secondary data from the period 2004 – 2019, which are kept in statistical reports of the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, while our selection was focused on those statistical indicators that created a picture of legislative activities of employees of social and legal protection authority of children and social guardianship in close connection with direct but also indirect social work.
We believe that the submitted scientific monograph will be of benefit to the professional public.
